[IC NAME] Riku
[FANDOM] Kingdom Hearts.
[GENDER] Male
[AGE] 16 at the end of KH II events; 18 now
[HEART] Currently with him.
[FAMILY] Unknown.
[DESTINATION] Ack, he’s not out in the roleplay yet …
[ORIGIN] Destiny Islands
[APPEARANCE] Riku
Riku is a lankysixteen eighteen year old, standing at five feet, seven inches. He has an athletic build [most likely from chasing around Heartless all the time] with muscles that prove their strength every time a battle is fought. While is skinny, he's not anorexic looking either. Although I'm having a hard time finding where Riku stores his fat.
His face is always serious, although this "emo" can sometimes crack a smile. This face is included with brilliant jade eyes and silver-grey hair, making it a mystery why he has stayed single in the series.
Now that he has matured, his dress style has become more serious as well. He is usually clad in baggy, navy blue jeans with a black belt buckle. He wears a soft, most likely made of cotton, black sleeveless top. Over it a yellow & grey vest can be found. Even though he may have matured, you can still see Riku has a thing for yellow tops. His shoes are also grey, maybe with some yellows in it if you squint. They're loose and made for running & comfort, not for style. Who has time to catch up with the latest and greatest when Heartless are on the loose?
[PERSONALITY]
Calm, cool, collected, capable, considerate, confined....where do we start with Riku?
Well, for starters, he has this adventure fetish. This kid cannot stay in one place for too long. You make him live on a tropical paradise for 15 years of his life, and what does he do? "Hey, let's build a raft and get outta here!" He needs adventure, he lives for adventure, he'd kill for adventure. I think the worst thing you can do to this kid is take away his Keyblade and make him live life without drama.
No, scratch that. The worst thing you can do to Riku is harm his friends. He despises that! If this kid's anything, he's loyal. He would trade his soul for your safety, take a hit for you and end up with a limp...Can you say ultimate best friend? He'll be willing to do anything to make sure his friends are safe, no matter what it costs to him.
But other than that, he's very calm and confident [unless it comes to thinking and/or dealing with Xehanort]. He tries not to let little details affect him much, and just go with the flow of life. Got a problem? Fix it. Have a headache? Go take some accursed Asprin. Life's too short to be an uptight worrywart.
The only thing I think that bothers Riku in his life is Xehanort, and the fact that he gave into the darkness. He has broken free of the darkness's grasp, but now he walks the Twilight path because of it. He can never be fully light, and he is neither fully dark either. Does he belong anywhere? Sometimes, when he gets to thinking, he can't help but wonder... what would've happened if his sins weren't forgiven by his friends? Would have walked alone...forever? Does he walk alone now?
[ASSOCIATION] Friend and ally of Sora, friend of Kairi.
[HISTORY]
"I'm not afraid of the darkness!"
Are you sure Riku, my lad? Are you sure?
His tale is a woeful one, but doesn't everyone need a little drama in their lives? Unlike most emos, it has a happy ending...for now. His story's still being written after all.
Our story starts on a tranquil set of islands, Destiny Islands, to be exact. There our hero grew up for fifteen peaceful years with his best friends, Sora & Kairi. He befriended other islanders as well, such as a young boy name Tidus, who fought with a sword, a boy with a slight Jamaican accent, Wakka, and a girl with a peculiar hair style, Selphie. Riku was friends with everyone, and Sora & Kairi always remained his top two.
Romantic tension began to grew between the two friends, however, because of the little red-head. Riku could plainly see that Sora had feelings for Kairi, like he did, so being the good little emo friend he was, he backed off.
"You wanted one, didn't you? ... If two people share one, thier destinies become intertwined. They'll remain a part of each others lives, no matter what ... Come on! I know you wanna try it!"
Although emos love thier jokes...
"Deal? The winner gets to share a paupou with Kairi."
But in the end, he had to respect Sora's feelings for the red-head. And her obvious feelings for him.
It was then that tragedy struck. The islands, Riku's home, was being enveloped in darkness. Riku proclaimed he wasn't afraid, that this was the only chance that they'd have to leave...
"But this may be our only chance...we can't let fear stop us. I'm not afraid of the darkness!"
He held out his hand to his best friend, the storm surrounding behind him. Darkness enveloped, the brunette was confused. "Riku?" The darkness soon surrounded Sora too. Confused as he was he reached out for Riku. Riku didn't make an extra attempt to grab Sora's hand...
And then Riku was gone, swallowed by the darkness.
He found himself in Hollow Bastion, and that's when he met Maleficent. The evil villain smooth talked her way into Riku’s mind, and eventually, he began to work for her. But only if she'd help him find his friends.
Occasionally, Maleficent would spin lies to Riku, saying that Sora no longer cared about Kairi ... or him. Riku pushed her away for as long as he could, hoping that what she said wasn't true. The prove her point, the villain reunited Riku with Sora briefly in Traverse Town.
"I've been looking for you and Kairi too ... with their help."
"...Who...are they...?"
"We've visited so many places and worlds... looking for you!"
"Really? Well ...whaddya ya know... I never would've guessed..."
That was all he needed to confirm Maleficent tales. Convinced that he was walking alone on the path to find Kairi, he did everything he could to try and help the girl.
First up was Jasmine. After kidnapping this Princess of Heart the evil Maleficent told Riku where Kairi was. Unfortunately, Kairi was attacked while leaving the town, leaving her without a heart ... she was just an empty shell.
Riku refused to give up. He traveled to the world of Monstro to kidnap Pinocchio, to try and find out how he lived without a Heart. But alas, our favorite spiky haired midget was in Monstro too, foiling his plans. Riku got a consolation prize though ... the ability to control Heartless!
He escaped with her body to Neverland, where he thought that Wendy might be a Princess of Heart. Sora shows up on the scene, being the annoying midget that he is, and Riku doesn't pas up the chance to gloat that he got here first.
"That's right. While you were off goofing around ... I finally found her."
Alas, Riku escapes with Kairi again, this time making his way to Hollow Bastion. Here's were things get tricky to explain...
Sora has arrived [fashionably] late to the party, while Riku is one angry little emo. After hearing that he, Riku, was the true Keyblade master, he is ready to show no mercy against his friend.
"Let the Keyblade choose ... it's true master!"
After snatching up Sora's Keyblade and crushing his spirit, Riku makes his way to Maleficent and the Hollow Bastion castle. Riku's heart has been fully tainted with darkness ... time for a wardrobe change! The Keyblade is stolen from Riku again, and now the fun starts!
After a few easy words from Ansem -cough- Xehanort, he possesses Riku's bishie body and makes it his own.
Then commence the Sora stabbing and such.
After Kairi's awakened, Riku makes his last stand, fighting vainly against Xehanort, urging Kairi, Donald & Goofy to run, the British -cough- Heartless were coming!
Riku is then plunged into the realm of darkness, but regains his body after Sora & friends beat the snot out of Ansem. While trying to close the door between the realm of light & the realm of darkness together, Riku realizes that he'd have to stay behind the door.
There was only one thing left to say...
"Take care of her."
Alone in the darkness, just like a classic emo, Riku thought he was going to be trapped within it forever. King Mickey saves him, and that's when a whole new journey starts...
He finds himself in the bottom floor of Castle Oblivion, which turns out to be the hideout of some creepy dudes [and girl] in black clocks. Freaky. Anyway, Riku had two things on his To-Do-List, which was, 1.) Find a certain spiky haired midget and 2.) Beat the snot out of Ansem for good.
Of course, he ran into trouble on the way. Some creepy blonde, Vexen, made a clone of him, or a Replica. It was originally dubbed the "Riku Replica." Catchy, huh? Riku beat the snot out of the Replica, but spared him. And later on Axel kicked the crud out of Vexen, but that's another story.
Anyway, he kept on fighting, beating up Org. members such as Lexaeus and other crud.
He then met Naminé. The shy blonde offered to help him get rid of Xehanort, but Riku had come to realize that the darkness is a part of him, and that'd he'd find a way to get rid of the pest on his own. Besides, who wants to be put in a sleeping chamber? So, he turned her offer down.
But here comes the exciting part ... he got to beat up Ansem! I mean, Xehanort. Now the little bugger was sealed up inside his heart ... finally!
Riku & the midget mouse left the castle in Organization cloaks, which looked quite spiffy on them, if I do say so myself. They met DiZ, or Ansem, or whatever you wanna call him. DiZ asked what path Riku would take ... the road to darkness, or to light?
Riku didn't hesitate. He wouldn't take neither, but the path down the middle.
"You mean the twilit road to nightfall?"
"No ... the road to dawn."
Moments in time pass … and Riku is asked by the ever questioning DiZ to help him capture Roxas, in order to help Sora restore his memory. Riku confronts Sora's emo alter ego and looses the first time, but then realizes that in order to fight in a realm of darkness, he'd have to be darkness itself. He embraces the darkness within him and beats up Roxas ... but at a price. He had taken on Xehanort's form... Marvelous.
He kept himself hooded, and when he brought Roxas to Twilight Town for DiZ, he introduced himself as Ansem, as if to say, "I am a dark being, there is nothing I can do about it." Riku continues to help DiZzy, but leaves after Sora has been restored.
Riku goes around having a jolly good time after which, still staying in secret. Ok, his adventures weren't exactly jolly and happy, but nevertheless, he traveled. Riku met up with Sora in the Land of Dragons, and ended up fighting him [yet again] because he was mistaken for an Organization member.
In the World that Never Was, Riku ends up saving Kairi & Naminé. He was forgiven and accepted by her and Sora, for they knew that deep down, Riku was and always would be Riku, no matter what or how he looked like.
But ta-da! When’s Ansem’s machine gets screwy and explodes, a brand new and hotter version of Riku is born, revealing what some call his "true form". He removes his blindfold & and black cloak to reveal a new older version of himself. Equipped with a Keyblade that looks exactly like the freakin' Emo Blade back at Hollow Bastion, he calls in "The Way to Dawn". I still call it the Emo Blade.
FORWARD MARCH! The two battle together in the World that Never Was, with a brand new Limit Move, Eternal Session, I think it was, that is the most kick-butt move ever. Soon, the two fight a grueling and extremely long battle against Xemnas, and win, of course. HUZZAH!
The "door to light" I believe it is called, opened up to the two, and they found themselves on Destiny Islands, reunited again at last.
